The Devils committed grand larceny a few weeks ago when they traded a 5th round pick for Andrei Loktionov of the Los Angeles Kings. You know, the guy who skated with the Cup, but got into a fight with Dean Lombardi and didn't get his name on the Cup despite playing 2 playoff games. And now him and Ilya Kovalchuk seem like BFFs on the ice.

Ponikarovsky Taking Over For Zubrus
Welp if this isn't familiar, I don't know what is. The Devils traded draft picks for Alexei Ponikarovsky again. The haul went up from the Carolina Hurricanes' plunder of a 4th rounder last year to a 4th and 7th for the Winnipeg Jets. ROBBERY. But with Dainius Zubrus now being out for 4-6 weeks following his exploratory surgery on his wrist, it's a needed addition. Plus we all love Poni forever for that goal against Philadelphia.

Offer Sheeting RFA Ryan O'Reilly Would Be Dumb
Many, many, many fans have been dreaming about offer sheeting current Restricted Free Agent Colorado Avalanche Center Ryan O'Reilly. The Avalanche are an extremely dumb organization for not wanting to sign him long term at $5 million a year when he could easily get $7m in a couple years. But that's beside the point; anybody thinking it would be a wise move and worth the time/effort to sign Ryan O'Reilly to an offer sheet is just as dumb as the Avalanche. There's no reason they wouldn't just match.

Devils vs. Rangers: Henrique, Clarkson Terrorize Rangers
It's as if nothing's changed since the end of last year. Adam Henrique scored the opening goal of the game, Martin Brodeur didn't allow a goal until Chris Kreider's beauty in the third period with the Rangers already down three and the Devils take down the Rangers 3-1. David Clarkson added 2 more goals, continuing his streak as luckiest player in sports history, and almost got three after Elias was basically throwing him miracle passes towards the open net. It's almost as if the Rangers aren't actually that good of a team.

Greg Jamison's Bid to Buy Phoenix Coyotes Fails
Barring some kind of divine miracle or rich Arizona hockey fans' intervention, the Phoenix Coyotes' days in Glendale, Arizona finally seem numbered. Greg Jamison has until tonight to buy the Coyotes to preserve the sweetheart deal from Glendale he received that would have paid him $15 million a year as a subsidy over 25 years to stay in Glendale. And he apparently won't be able to do it. With a great, ridiculous deal like that, people expected that Jamison would find the partners to be able to pay somehow. Whoops.
Greg Jamison is out as prospective Phoenix Coyotes owner. Someone is making attempts to put a new group together but it's a huge longshot.

Adam Larsson Finally Playing; Adam Henrique Back vs. Islanders
Finally, with Mark Fayne's arm injury, Adam Larsson, the #4 overall pick in the 2011 NHL draft, will be making his season debut tonight for the New Jersey Devils. Stefan Matteau is also going to sit with the return of the Kingslayer Adam Henrique who will be eased in on the 4th line.
DeBoer said Fayne has a "minor" arm injury, so they'll put in Larsson, who is 100 percent.

Mattias Tedenby: Beginning of the End?
Mattias Tedenby, after auditioning on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th lines through the first four games, has been sent down to Albany of the AHL. Teddy's running out of chances but seems to only be regressing. Even after posting one of his better games in a Devils sweater in the season opener versus the Islanders, he fell right back to being mediocre in the defensive zone. And now he's back in Albany.
